Principle of Opposites
I wanted to show two of my images and how they’ve changed. I really enjoy taking an image that I’ve composed and playing around with it. Although I’m a fan of the simplicity of the original, I like putting it in a setting that gives it a new meaning. Or maybe reinforce a meaning that was already there.

It’s Friday afternoon at the office and I have that feeling you get when you just want the work week to end. I recently enrolled in a painting class, and tonight will be the second session. Really excited to see how I can use what I learn to improve my art. It’s great to be in a class environment learning something you’re really interested in. Art classes, I’m finding, are also great for people watching. That’s a story for another time though. Ok, back to the spreadsheets…

Learning to Live with The Smiths
I recently popped in The Smiths Singles collection into my car stereo and somehow I haven't been able to remove it. I didn't get into The Smiths until after they broke up. I still remember being in math class and having a classmate tell me that they had broken up. It was a big deal for him but I was just perplexed as to who this band was. Then a year later I was in yet another math class and a friend of mine had Morrissey written on his notebook and told me he was really good. That was the same class where some dude with long hair told me Metallica was cool and all this 'new wave' music was for 'fags'. Maybe then is when I started listening. Whatever the case, I've listened to the entire Smiths catalog time and time again, maybe at times more passionately than others.
'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now' is the first song of them that really got me. I remember stopping the cassette and rewinding, then repeating after the song was done. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Something about it spoke to me and still does. I thought it would be applicable to include The Smiths in my blog, being that their record covers were an influence for my art. I'm no longer a teenager rewinding the cassette, but I still listen to the song as if it were my own.

The Stillness
this is part of a series of pieces that i've been working on. it's been a great learning experience for me. very rewarding as well. the background, picture and caption are all from different sources. these are images that i've been playing around with for a while now, and it's great to finally see them in this format.
My first post
here i sit at my desk, a little confused after creating my first blog. does this mean that the gates are open and communication will start flowing? i should be working on excel spreadsheets but choose to be here instead. good times. i will be posting my art pretty soon, so all of this will make more sense. plenty more to come later.
